Monthly commission close checklist

Use this every payout cycle — whether you still live in spreadsheets or you run PayoutLane. Built for SaaS, agencies, and brokerages.

1. Lock the deal source

  • Export closed-won (and refunded) deals from CRM/billing
  • Include amount, owner email, close date, product, stable ID
  • Freeze the export date so late edits don’t silently change totals

2. Confirm the plan rules

  • Active rates match the published comp plan
  • Tier thresholds and accelerators are current
  • Split policies for AE/SDR/partner are documented
  • Clawback window for refunds/churn is agreed with finance

3. Calculate the period

  • Import deals into your commission system (or PayoutLane)
  • Run the payout for the calendar month (or your cycle)
  • Spot-check top deals and any refunded lines

4. Approve and pay

  • Finance reviews totals by rep
  • Export CSV for payroll / AP
  • Mark period approved/paid
  • Share rep portal links (or statements) the same day
